How the fashion of T-shirts evolved

A t-shirt is a button less and collarless style of a shirt. Usually referred to as a ‘tee’ this piece of clothing comes with a round neckline and is most often short sleeved.

Originally, t-shirts were often worn as undershirts. Now, however, t-shirts are the only clothing worn on the upper part of the body, besides of course any undergarments required for ladies. Furthermore, t-shirts have become a mode of self-expression and advertising/promoting products and companies.

T-shirt fashion included many styles for men and women. A t-shirt usually extends up to the waist, but other styles such as tank tops, muscle shirts and v-neck shirts have been developed. Hip hop fashion has also invented a ‘tall T’ that extends up to the knees. In addition, T-shirts with and without buttons also came into being as a convenient clothing to suit both hot and warm climates. Baggy tee’s and fitting tee’s were another fashion that many preferred. Furthermore, ‘layering’ is a style in which a short sleeved tee is worn on top of a long sleeved tee in a contrasting color.
